Why do I need to supply my bank statements?

If you have had previous bad credit, it is a compulsory requirement from all bad credit lenders that you supply these upfront.

Why do they need to look at my bank statements?

a; The lenders need to look at your statements for a few reasons, one is to see that your income is going in to your bank account, lenders in most cases take the average income going in to you bank statements over a period of 90 days and use the average income as your income when assessing your application for affordability.
b; lenders also look at your current financial position by going over your statements, they look to see that you are not currently struggling financially on your current income, clear evidence of this would be that you are constantly overdrawing your bank account several times a week or month.
c; lenders also look at any and all current commitments that you may have, such as loans, credit cards, direct debt payments of any kind and look to see that they have all been taken in to account when establishing affordability for another loan, they also look to see that you are making your payments to those debts on time and you are not dishonouring any payments.

Do they look at my savings history?

Bad credit lenders don’t look at your savings history in your bank account as part of their decision making, although this would help in assisting to get a loan, they are not like traditional banks where it is important to have a savings history.

Do They Look At How Much Money I Have In My Account?

Bad credit lenders don’t look and focus on how much money you have in your account at any given time, this is not taken into consideration when applying for a loan, although it does help if you have a reasonable amount in your account regularly, however they mainly focus on your income and your ability to maintain any existing debts you may have

What If I Can't Supply My Bank Statements?

If you are unable or unwilling to supply your bank statements when requested, your application will not be looked at or even processed, as bank statements are a compulsory requirement from all bad credit lenders.

Why Have I Been Asked To Supply My Bank Statements For The Last 180 Days?

In almost all cases, lenders would only ask for bank statements for the last 180 days if you are self-employed, if you are self-employed you will need to supply bank statements for this term so lenders can see that you have had consistent income over a long period and clear evidence that you are currently trading and earning an income.

Why Do I Need To Supply Bank Statements For The Last 365 Days?

It is rare that lenders would ask for statements for this period unless they want to look at your history over a 12 month period to help improve your chances to get a loan, this is normally a request for self-employed people.

Who Looks At My Bank Statements First?

If you have made a payment arrangement for any bad debts such as a default, this is a positive thing as it shows that you have done something about your previous bad credit issues, in almost all cases the lender would require a repayment history statement for the last 6 to 12 months to make sure that you have stuck to your arrangement and your making your payments on time.
